Green Mountain in Jeffco isn’t actually a designated place at all, but an area adjacent to Lakewood that has grown into quite a community over the last 40 years. Named for the mountain in the middle of Green Mountain Park that rises to an elevation of 6,856 feet, The Green Mountain areas has one of the most stunning views of the Denver and the spreading plains of Colorado. It was one of the earliest routes to the gold fields of Central City and the first known toll road in the region; Throughout the 1860s and 1870s, suppliers collected tolls from miners passing through what was named Apex City. Today Green Mountain is such an iconic place name in the Denver area that it lends itself to the name of hundreds of businesses.
